Hydroxychoroquine - Will it help to fight the COVID-19 pandemic

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a medication used to prevent and treat malaria in areas where malaria remains sensitive to Chloroquine.Other uses include treatment of rheumatoid arthritis & lupus .It is also being studied as an experimental treatment for Corona Virus disease 2019 (COVID-19).


 The PM of India seems to have keenly tracked emerging research on covid-19.After hearing about Hydroxychloroquine; He as spoken to some Pharma Company heads regarding India's production capacity. Modi asked officials to ensure standard bureaucratic procedures do not come in the way of increasing production to meet the demands of India and Other Countries.

 India Produces majority of the Hydroxychloroquine in the world.The India Model of Proactively helping out with medicine is quite different from the Chinese model where assistance is tied up with conditions.US, Brazil and Maldives have thanked India.
